Autism Guernsey is inviting islanders to take part in its Autumn Walk this October.
The event on Sunday 12th October, starting and finishing at Sausmarez Manor will bring together supporters and fundraisers of the charity, encouraging everyone to put their walking boots on in support of the cause.
The walk will raise awareness and vital funds to support the charity’s work with autistic individuals and their families across the island.
The walk, led by local walking leader Micky Fooks, will take participants through historic lanes and countryside in St Martin’s, including areas linked to Renoir and Caperne, with magnificent views along the way.
The walk is the fundraising initiative of Micky Fooks who has been organsing “Countryfile rambles” for more than 10 years locally.
David Harry, Chair of Autism Guernsey, said: “We are enormously grateful that Micky has once again chosen Autism Guernsey as the beneficiary of this year’s walk. Our services rely heavily on fundraising, and the demand continues to grow. We need to raise over £400,000 annually to maintain the breadth of support we provide across Guernsey, so community events like this are incredibly important to us both in terms of fundraising and increasing awareness of our work.”
Micky Fooks, Walk Leader, added: “It’s always been my aim to create interesting, sociable walks that showcase Guernsey’s beauty while raising funds for good causes. This year’s route is leisurely in pace, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the views and historic areas, but also offers a few more challenging sections. I’m delighted that Autism Guernsey will benefit again, as the charity’s work makes such a difference to people in Guernsey.”
The walk will last around an hour and a half, with options to shorten the route if needed. Families and dogs are welcome, though children should be supervised and dogs kept on leads due to the terrain.
Refreshments will be available at the finish from the Sausmarez Manor tea-room.
Participants are asked to make a minimum donation of £10, payable on the day or via Autism Guernsey’s fundraising page:👉 https://giving.gg/donate/charity/258/Autism-Guernsey-LBG
Supporters are encouraged to share their photos and experiences online using the hashtag #WalkForAutismGuernsey.

With thanks to Mr Peter de Sausmarez for his permission to start and finish the walk at the Manor.
