Autism Guernsey is successful in application for Children in Need funding

Following two years without funding from Children in Need, Autism Guernsey is delighted to announce that it has been successful in its most recent application. The funding will run for a three-year period and will fund a new project for autistic children.
Autism Guernsey currently runs several clubs for autistic children and young people which are generously funded by local supporters who stepped in when Autism Guernsey where unsuccessful receiving Children in Need funding in 2024 due to demand for grants. This support was pivotal in enabling essential clubs to continue.
This new funding will allow the charity to provide more small-group and one-to-one support focusing on mental and emotional wellbeing and Interoception.*
Autism Guernsey has now appointed a part-time member of staff to deliver this project which will run alongside and provide support for the other services provided to autistic children and their families. A new group of children will be identified each year for involvement in order to maximise the number of children that will benefit from this project.
Autism Guernsey Chair, Andrew Warren, says: “We are delighted that we have been successful in our funding application to Children in Need and that we will now be able to offer further targeted support to children experiencing difficulties in these areas. There is strong evidence that this type of intervention can improve autistic children’s wellbeing as well as having beneficial knock-on effects on parents, carers and siblings. I would also like to place on record our appreciation for the support we have received from Children in Need, both now and in the past.”
“Whilst we are delighted to have received this funding, it in no way fulfils all our needs, demand for our services currently significantly outweighs our capacity and the need for our services locally continues to grow. It costs more than £400,000 to run Autism Guernsey and we welcome continued support from all areas of the community.”
