As the year draws to a close, the festive season gives us time to reflect on what really matters: connection, kindness and community. At Autism Guernsey, the weeks leading up to Christmas have been busy, joyful and most importantly focused on continuing to support our clients.
Winter Wonderland: Our Festive Fundraiser
A major highlight of our festive calendar was our much-loved Winter Wonderland fundraiser. This special event brought together families, supporters and the wider community, raising vital funds to help us continue our work throughout the year.
We are incredibly grateful to the Lions Club of Guernsey, Specsavers and the Bachmann family for their generosity and ongoing support. A huge thank you also goes to our superstar organiser Cherry McMillian, whose dedication and energy helped make the event such a success and the support from the Permira Team.
Festive Fun for Our Clients
Supporting our clients doesn’t stop during the festive season if anything, it becomes even more important. Over the past few weeks, our clients have enjoyed a festive craft afternoon, offering a calm and creative space to relax and express themselves, as well as an action-packed go-karting session that brought plenty of excitement and smiles.
Our children’s clubs also joined in the celebrations, each hosting their own Christmas parties. These moments of joy, routine and shared experience are at the heart of what we aim to provide.
Proud to Be Part of the Island’s Christmas Traditions
We were honoured to have a Christmas tree displayed at the Town Church Christmas Tree Festival, standing proudly among many other local charities and organisations. Being part of this much-loved community tradition was a wonderful way to raise awareness and celebrate the work being done across the island.
Celebrating a Special Milestone
We rounded off the festive season by celebrating a very special anniversary: Julia Watts marking 10 years as CEO of Autism Guernsey. Julia’s leadership, passion and unwavering commitment have helped shape the organisation into what it is today, and we are incredibly grateful for everything she has achieved over the past decade.
Holding Space for the Challenges Too
While Christmas can be a time of joy, we also recognise that it can be challenging particularly for autistic individuals and their families. Changes in routine, sensory overload and social pressures can make this time of year difficult. At Autism Guernsey, we see that, we acknowledge it, and we remain here to support our community through both the highs and the hard moments. Don't forget our online resources can be accessed at anytime here.
As we head into the Christmas break, we would like to thank everyone who has supported us this year our clients, families, staff, volunteers, donors and partners.

From all of us at Autism Guernsey, we wish you a peaceful Christmas and a hopeful New Year 💙
