Dolphin Discovery Trail 2025: What a Night to Remember!

Last night, the Dolphin Discovery Trail 2025 reached its grand finale with a spectacular charity auction at the Peninsula Hotel and what a celebration it was! Together, we raised over £40,000 on the night and an incredible £80,000 in total for Autism Guernsey and the GSPCA.

A Community Effort

Over the last few months, 62 dolphins each beautifully designed by local artists, schools, and community groups, and generously sponsored by local businesses have brought colour and creativity to our island. Seeing them all gathered at the Peninsula for the final auction was truly special.

We couldn’t have done it without so many helping hands including our own Autism Guernsey Team! The Guernsey Freemasons ensured dolphins were delivered safely to the venue, while the Artex Guernsey team transported the final 36 on Tuesday and worked tirelessly throughout the evening, moving dolphins, helping with phone bids, and keeping the event running smoothly along with the team from the Peninsula Hotel.

Auction Highlights

Excitement built before the auction even began, with more than 36 pre-bids already in place. On the night, the bidding was lively and full of energy thanks to our fantastic auctioneer, John Randall from BBC Guernsey, who brought humour and professionalism to every lot.

The star of the evening was Fairytale, sponsored by TISE and painted by Dom Ogier-Keltie, which went under the hammer for £1,600. Another standout was Hermia, sponsored by Herm Island and beautifully decorated by India Waterhouse, which sold for £1,250.

A raffle with prizes donated by generous supporters added even more excitement, with many happy winners heading home with something special.

Heartfelt Thanks

On behalf of Autism Guernsey, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who made this event such a success from the artists, schools, and sponsors to the volunteers, bidders, and guests who joined us for the big night. A special thanks to the GSPCA fundraising partner.

Autism Guernsey Director, Andrew Sparks, summed it up perfectly:

“It’s been a privilege to be part of such a creative and impactful initiative. The funds raised will make a real difference to the lives of those we support. Thank you to everyone who contributed, especially Bailiwick Express for their help with the website and promotion.”
