Due to the huge success of the Guernsey Adult Literary Project (GALP) Donkey Parade and Cow Parade, Autism Guernsey, with the support of GALP, is organising a Guernsey Goat Parade in 2021. This has been postponed from 2020 due to the uncertainty of Covid-19.
52 goats have been sponsored and will be painted by local artists, groups and schools in different themes agreed upon between the sponsors and artists. The goats will then be displayed at various venues around the Island between May and August prior to being auctioned in September. Norman Piette have kindly donated some of the paint and varnish for the goats.
An App will be available tp purchase for £2 in order to enter into a competition to win an iPad. The competition will require individuals to take a selfie with each of the goats which will be uploaded to their App. There will also be a raffle to win a goat. The raffle tickets will go on sale on Liberation Day in town and will be drawn at the auction in September.
We are still looking for carpenters to make 9 more wooden plinths to bolt the goats on to. We would be happy to supply the materials, we just need the labour. We are delighted that the Prison inmates, Paul’s Joinery, R&D de Jersey and R.H. Le Tissier have already made the rest of the plinths.
If you would be interested in making some plinths or can help us in any other way, please contact Autism Guernsey on Tel: 232879 or [email protected]
