The Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Ball is being held in aid of Autism Guernsey and tickets have sold out within 90 seconds!! The organisers were hugely impressed with the work that Autism Guernsey does locally with individuals with autism and their families which is why they decided to kindly support our charity. The charity receives no statutory financial backing and all funds raised go towards work carried out in Guernsey. Autism Guernsey relies on support from the island’s community and is the only local organisation dedicated to the provision of professional autism support services.
Dia de los Muertos, known as ‘The Day of the Dead’ is a Mexican holiday that focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey. Rather than treating it as something dark and frightening, the Day of the Dead is largely about laughing in the face of death.
The event will use influences from traditional Mexican fiestas and Dia de los Muertos carnivals for the decor, entertainment, food and drink. We are sure it will be a visual feast and will be talked about for all the right reasons!
